Kiyomi is a very quiet and shy individual with a little bit of lacking confidence, but she always tries to be cheery and spread joy if she can in spite of that. Having been able to see spirits all her life, she had an unusual challenge growing up that that contributed both to her interest in helping others and and her hardship with fitting in. Her feelings of inadequacy come from having been called creepy by children and adults alike from the ability she hadn't known made her different, isolating her very often. Yet her natural desire to help the living and dead alike was cultivated by her parents thanks to her family running an old shrine in Tokyo. Once they realized she had a strong ability, they began focusing strongly on her training as a miko which helped her understand what she could do better and helped at least give her a place she could feel valued. Despite this though, she always felt a lingering sense of wanting to be normal like others, never hating her spiritual powers, but wishing she could sometimes 'turn it off' so she could have a chance to fit in a little and make friends. She also keeps herself very well groomed, in part having needed to from having grown such incredibly long hair, but because she also doesn't want any other reasons for others to frown on her, sometimes upsetting her a little if she has to go too long without at least getting a bath. Always hopeful that one day she'll make some that don't mind her odd abilities, she still smiles often, though has become a bit shy and quiet in reluctance to say much about it openly.
Being the oldest sibling to two younger sisters, she's learned to be very responsible and help care for them very well, especially with being able to guide her two sisters in some rituals and duties around the shrine and help organize cleaning so they can get done faster. Kiyomi does enjoy at least having her younger sisters for a little bit of company and doesn't mind walking them to and from school, out on errands, or making sure they get to go out and have some fun. Despite her reserved and gentle demeanor, she is very defensive of them as well as herself and will quickly tell off any anyone with clearly dubious intentions strongly yet politely, making them feel guilty for even trying in the first place typically over any kind of fighting. Even with this occasionally more bold side to her, some things do frighten her easily, like the sound of loud, rolling thunder, and will cause her to freeze-up a little, shrink back or retreat to the safety of her room to snuggle under a blanket. After spending some time in the Sengoku Jidai, she starts to warm up and break a little more free of her shyness, having found a place much more accepting of her strange abilities and a good friend in Koneko, who treated her fairly kindly from the first moment they met. Being in the past era brings her a much greater sense of accomplishment and purpose, and having friends that are a bit 'strange' like her makes her feel like she finally belongs, though she still gets homesick and wants to go see her family once in awhile.
Appearance
Kiyomi is fairly short with black hair so long it touches the ground save for he bangs framing her face and her side locks that go a little past her shoulders. She is a bit on the pale side for her skin tone and her most striking feature is her eyes that have been fading in color over time due to slowly going blind since childhood from her powers.
Clothing/Armor
Her normal attire is that of a miko with ties holding her sidelocks out of the way when she is at home helping around the Hoshino Shrine, but she does dress in typical attire for a young adult her age when she goes out for shopping or helping take her sisters to and from school. The miko outfit later changes to a slightly more fitting one from the Sengoku Jidai and she may have her long hair tied up slightly one in awhile (both below). She also does have a fancier Kimono she will don on appropriate occasions (pictured above).

Trivia
-Kiyomi will inevitably eventually go completely blind, however, there is a possibility of bringing in a side story-line of some kind of herbal tea or other remedy to bring it back to full temporarily. While her eyes have a pinkish-white hue from her blindness, her original eye color is brown.
-In one of the major RP worlds she has been in, Koneko and her replace Kagome entirely. Kiyomi has the miko powers and bore the Shikon jewel in her body and Koneko the ability to leash in Inuyasha via his nenju.
-Kiyomi can channel spirits of her own volition, but, if a nearby spirit is too powerful for her to stave off, she can be end up possessed: regardless if the spirit is good or evil.
-Kiyomi quickly finds a light adoration of convincing Koneko to dress up in some of her clothing when she goes with her to the Heisei Era. Her main enjoyment for this is finally getting to experience a little bit of feeling like a normal young woman having fun with her friend by getting dressed up cute and going out shopping (for snacks to take on travels usually)
History to Present
Kiyomi is a miko from Heisei Era Japan who's had a hard time fitting in for much of her life. Born in Tokyo to parents Nozomi (mother) and Minoru (father) Hoshino, she was born with the ability to see spirits inherently since she could remember. It wasn't immediately obvious to her parents that she had the ability, thinking as a child perhaps she had a slightly more vivid imagination or misinterpreting the world around her despite the fact they run a local Shinto shrine. It didn't fully become apparent to them until she started going to preschool and her teachers began mentioning she seemed to try to communicate with nobody fairly often and that other children seemed to think she was strange from her behavior or things she'd tell them. This exact issue caused her to have trouble with getting close to her peers from her youth on out with no way to control it, constantly able to see spirits and strange things around her that most could not and unable to to understand why others couldn't see what she could. It quickly led to other children and parents thinking she was a little eerie and shunning her despite her pervasive sweet and polite nature, usually trying to tell them messages passed-on loved ones wanted their living family to know. Though not all of her encounters with ghosts and spirits at such a young age were innocent with her powers being too strong for her to control: she was prone to getting possessed or using aspects of it by accident, which left very serious cause for concern. After a couple of these incidents, her parents pushed her sooner than originally intended into training to be a miko for her own safety and protection. While her parents were happy to know she had been born with a gift given their family line and occupation, they hoped they could not only help her control it in some way with this early training between worry she might be taken from them early should another incident happen. Despite this early training, she still suffered a few more incidents and soon they found out the additional toll this gift had upon her after needing to take her to the hospital to be cared for after an especially rough possession - the slow degradation of her eyesight as these incidents kept cropping up. From that moment on, they watched over her more closely to ensure her safety the best they could, in turn causing her to not often stray too far from the shrine and separating her from the world around her and a more normal life. They also had decided certain traditional activities she might normally learn along with miko training may be too dangerous along side this issue as well, so they stuck to certain traditions over others and avoided letting her learn archery all together.
All of these issues from her childhood stacked together and slowly she grew isolated and shier to strangers with some discontent building in her about her life, wishing she could have a place she could fit in better despite the shrine suiting well with her abilities. Yet a small bit of relief from this discontent would come in the form of her younger sisters being born: Hiriko and Airi. By the time Kiyomi had turned six, her parents had her younger sister Hiriko and about two years after that they had Airi. With each of these two little siblings in her life, she eventually had both of them to help stave off some of the lonely feelings she was gaining and new family members that would grow up knowing she was different than most others and not reject her for it. She took very quickly to helping her mother with her siblings and started to quickly pick up on how to take care of others, starting with cleaning up after her little sisters if they made a mess or watching them and trying to settle them if their mom need to step out of the room for a moment to take care of a few things. As they got older, he siblings all got along pretty well and Kiyomi found a little bit of a talent for also breaking up fights between them before they got too far or would find middle grounds quickly to make sure arguments wouldn't happen in the first place. In turn her little sisters would go to her often and considered her a bit of a role model in how they wanted to be. As the younger two grew to school age, it became a quick habit for Kiyomi to walk with them to and from school, at first with their parents, but eventually on her own because she kept a close eye on them and made sure they all got home safely. Though, as they got older, little bits of wishing and loneliness would still return to Kiyomi in the form of seeing her sisters get to lead much more normal childhoods than she had: Hiriko was really good at making other friends while Airi, who was still a bit shier, still managed to make a couple of friends with classmates where Kiyomi still really couldn't make friends with anyone having gotten her reputation in youth beyond her control. Occasionally other students would talk to her, but it was still difficult to find anyone willing to actually get to know her. Hiriko and Airi, knowing the other side of their older sister's struggle, started to let their friends know about it a little while before being allowed to visit their house at the shrine, but they would try to explain it so they wouldn't think their sister was creepy or strange, only sweet and nice and, actually, all around pleasant. It was a success on their part mostly, and Kiyomi wouldn't get judged harshly by most of her sisters' friend, and those friends would even sometimes try to get their parents on board. By the end of their efforts, it eventually became fairly common for Kiyomi to at least chaperone her sisters and their friends if parents couldn't go with to certain small outings or events where it wasn't anything worrisome for a teenager to watch over several middle schoolers. This, in a way gave Kiyomi a few pseudo-friendships and a way to go out an have fun and satiate most of her desire for her own friends and to feel more normal, but having friends closer to her own age or interests still had a tiny place of sadness in the back of her mind throughout her high school years.
Now just beyond high school and adjusting to just working at her family's shrine with her duties, Kiyomi sometimes feels she's missing out on some aspects of life she's never really gotten to try out, but she does her best to make the most of helping visitors to the shrine and keeping it tidy. To look presentable for guests and tourists, she also gained a slight interest in putting decorations and some light hair ties of kinds into her hair once in awhile to keep it out of the way, though sometimes she will do something less formal or leave it down while just cleaning knowing she'll reward her hard work with a nice hot bath after. She also starts her weekdays with helping her sisters have breakfast and lunches prepared for school before walking them to school, coming home to do some of the cleaning, duties and chores around the shrine, then goes to meet her sisters to walk them home after school. Still getting some free time to herself, she may relax with her family and watch a little TV, read, help with shopping that needs to be done and various other things to do to relax or have fun. On some occasions she will also offer to take her sisters and their friends to movies or other excursions as a little group to get some supplement of going out with friends of her own. Yet sometimes in idle moments while cleaning or taking care of her appearance, she'll stop and wish she could travel to other places, or wind up in fantastical places like some of the books she reads where she could be seen as normal, or at least not carry around such a stigma about herself where she's learned other societies are less superstitious. Then something odd happened one day while she was cleaning the area of the family shrine in the afternoon; she got the strange feeling to look up to the sky, sensing some kind of power flying over head. Looking up, she saw a comet pass by above, though it seemed weirdly clear in her eyes despite her mildly faded and blurry vision, yet she thought herself lucky for seeing such a rare meteorological event. After it's passing, she continued cleaning toward the last part of the shrine she usually tended to before heading in for a bath: a small roped-off forest shrine with a small torii gate as an entrance to it. Normally she'd clean the area around it, then a little inside to make it presentable and leave, knowing it was always roped off to not be entered upon, but a noise coming from it caught her attention. She squinted to get a better look, noticing the small doors were rattling and placed down her broom to climb through the ropes keeping anyone from passing through the torii to see if maybe an animal had gotten in somehow. The moment she stepped through to the other side of the ropes, she suddenly realized the taller fence around it was gone, a more meager one in it's place, and all the pavement had disappeared behind her: she actually was standing in a fairly forested area. Confused, she thought maybe something had happened and she'd fallen unconscious, dreaming, so she soon began wandering on her own away from the shrine...
