Personality

Being fairly lax and laid back by nature, Kaito tends to be a trouble maker more on account of his ingrained habits rather than being fully an outright trickster for personal intent. Though, like most kitsune, he does have streaks of taking his playful attitude too far or occasionally tricks others out of light boredom to spark a little excitement. While his teasing is typically light-hearted to those he likes, he also does use it to his advantage to enrage an opponent and draw them into a trap in his favor or will just pick on those he purely doesn't like. While taking it easy is his his thing over-all, he is constantly observant and watchful, fairly on guard and prefers to sit where he can keep an eye on everything going on around him and those he's with. He is a fairly decent fighter despite his relaxed attitude and does also use his tricks to his advantage in battle, preferring to go with the flow of a fight and play off of ally's moves if he can than fight completely alone. When he is in combat his movements even could come across like dancing rather than fighting, darting in and out or nimbly moving around friend and foe alike. In a skirmish, he is quick on his feet and equally witty on the fly, often keeping himself out of sight as long as he can and using illusionary clones to conceal his actual location to keep opponents disoriented.

Yet his biggest downfall is his need to fulfill the perversion of his wandering eyes when a woman catches his attention. Mainly he prefers to keep himself as far out of trouble as possible, remaining unseen in the shadows of foliage or getting inventive to get a chance at seeing women be disrobed or bathing. Of course his desire goes far beyond just getting a view, using his handsome looks to his advantage and putting as much charm as he can into pursuing his intended 'playmate.' There is a gentlemanly attitude that coincides with his perverse nature, though it tends to show through as a bit of a means to an end while being alluring. Regardless of this, he does often have a genuine side to this courteous way around women, preferring to still see them treated decently well, free of danger or harm, and will defend or comfort them in earnest if need be. He also will not engage in taking touching too far when physically interacting with a woman, preferring to use his charms over force to get his way, though he isn't beyond getting a feel here or there. There's a bit of a thrill he gets from captivating a woman to get what he wants, but currently he is smitten with Koneko and the challenge of getting her affections as she's a very rare case that his charisma and appeal don't seem to work on her.

Appearance

Kaito is decently tall as a Kitsune, standing at about 5'9" when upright on his digitigrade fox legs, yet is also fairly slender despite his muscular build. He has a fairly even complexion to compliment the reddish-orange furred parts of himself while his hair is more of a straw brown. Rather than animal ears, he has human-like pointed ears, pronounced canines and claws as well as bright, sky-blue eyes. His long, wavy hair is usually tied back unless he's relaxing deeply or bathing and he wears a scarf to hide the scars from a very old fight on his neck that were cursed to never heal. While typically he leaves his five tails openly on display, he can hide them to make it seem like one tail alone. He also does prefer to be very well groomed and looking his best to compliment the fact he does have a tendency to flirt.

Clothing/Armor

Kaito can be seen dressed in relatively average clothing of the time period, though worn a bit more relaxed with the front of his kimono often left fairly open and loose on purpose. He wears a blue vest and scarf over his red patterned kimono and a thick, red-striped obi to hold it in place. The bottoms of his black hakama are wrapped tight to his legs to prevent them from being in the way and he keeps a pouch for small, general goods and other items tied to his side much of the time. As he typically relies on moving fast or concealing his location with clones, he does not wear any armor, but in his clothing he does hide weapons and various other items he can pull out for use with ease.

-His battle style is typically more in the realm of ninjutsu and skews towards staying out of battle unless necessary or desiring to fight, though he does have very decent fighting skills. Mainly he does spying and shadowing and will do so often before getting into combat to at the very least learn his adversary first.
-The scars on his neck came from a fight very early on in his life, having gone on a mission where over-confidence got the better of him and the wounds were cursed to never fully heal. There are five in the pattern of having been cut by a clawed right hand.
-He knows by now way better than to let himself get caught by anyone, especially for his perversions. Because of this he uses clones fairly regularly to shift his position, especially for combat. Somewhat subverted for Koneko because he has helped train her to fight better via sparring and she has gotten very good at catching him in combat and learned the sound of his movements due to his indiscretions.
He cares deeply for Yuzuki and respects her word highly, as he typically would for any human that proves to have great spiritual power. Likewise he cares deeply for and is smitten with Konene, watching out for her vehemently despite his constant badgering for her affections.

History to Present

Born to a typical kitsune family, Kaito had a fairly normal childhood and early life in a decent-sized village under a clan of his own youkai kind. In his early days he already had high confidence in his inherent abilities and could often be found showing off to family and friends along with audaciously playing tricks on passers by on the occasion he could. As he got older, he began focusing on training to fight along side his trickery for some extra ability to show off to others and flaunt his talents, often bragging after winning small scuffles. During these years he also began discovering a heavy interest in his growing urges as he changed into a young man: seeking the affections of women. Learning the best ways to flirt and keeping a well-groomed appearance to accentuate his good looks, he would shamelessly seduce ladies that caught his eye or use his tricks to watch them in private moments. His brazen attitude would serve to become an issue for him, however, as he eventually went on to become a ninja and informant for his village under the clan leader. On a particularly dangerous excursion for information he over-confidently walked himself too deeply into danger that he was unaware he'd be unable to easily get out of and found himself captured by the enemy he was there to do reconnaissance about. Thinking it would be easy to get away, he tried his luck to evade being snatched, but soon found himself in the clutches of this foe by his throat, straining to escape. He clawed desperately at the hand holding him hostage while the youkai the held him began to place a curse upon him. Before the curse could be completed, he managed to pull out one of his trick items and knock himself free with an illusion, but not before being left with cuts to his neck he'd soon find out would never heal from what of the curse had been cast.

After learning such a harsh lesson in pride and arrogance, Kaito strove more to perfect using his skills and began to consider applying them to smarter tactics and evasion rather than just showing off or letting his ego think he was impervious. Developing these tactics, the change to applying his skills in smarter ways and using illusion copies of himself to better hide his location proved fruitful in later encounters with other tough foes, granting him further improvements to consider. His personal growth led him to be fairly well respected in his trade among the village and even changed him to be much more willing to get along with many he'd originally off-put with his overtly boastful nature, though he still had some knack for recounting his conquests for favor, giving himself a mightier image or interest when with women. With the enhancement to his skills keeping him pretty well set for much of his life after that point, things only changed for him again significantly as his village entered an alliance with the Lord of the Black Tiger Clan, Nekomaru, his services being offered on occasion and he was often sent as an informant between the clans and occasionally communication with the Lord's illegitimate son among his kind, Kenichi. With the clans working together for quite some time, he became involved in the later incident of aiding the escape of Inari and Koneko, Nekomaru's wife and daughter, though had little to do with them aside from safely shepherded back to his clan's village. Things mostly had returned to the way they'd been previous to the coalition until the conspirators of the Black Tiger Clan had launched another attack, killing Inari and leaving them constantly on search from the now missing and eventually presumed dead Koneko.

The search for Nekomaru's missing daughter led him to eventually encounter the witch Yuzuki, a human woman who puzzled and intrigued him. She easily saw through his tricks like no human had ever been able to, and so he became fascinated by the mortal, tailing her for a bit before she simply invited him into her presence. Deciding to follow her as a companion, Kaito became a helper in the young woman's pursuit to protect other humans from youkai that intended to cause harm or spread evil, helping her endeavors greatly with his tricks and tactics. Having made a sizeable reputation for the young woman among humans, word of her incredible abilities spread and led them both to be called to slay a great demon causing grave destruction at random among humans for quite some time on the continent (China). Arriving late to the place the battle was meant to take place, they found all who had shown up had been killed and feared the beast had gotten away until he noticed a gravely wounded Koneko lying in the center of it all. Recognizing her as the long missing daughter of Nekomaru, he convinced Yuzuki they needed to save her from her deteriorating condition and helped lift her from her spot in the ground so they could tend to her until she healed. He had a keen realization she'd been the one that had wrought the chaos there, yet, while difficult and testy towards them, had a sense she wasn't the evil one nor the true youkai behind her actions, eventually finding his suspicions confirmed as she started opening up to them.

Taking time to show her compassion and gaining her trust by agreeing to keep her living status a secret from all who knew her past, he eventually took to helping hone her skills in battle and she joined them more openly in effort to change her ways. With the potential she showed in ability and keeping up with him, he grew authentically fond of her, wishing to help keep her on the new path she found and vowing he'd continue the duty of guarding her for his village alone. Over time they found out she was unfortunately capable of losing control of herself, leading him to seek ways to help her keep an even temperament and, in a sense, protect her from herself. Though it turned out he couldn't quite protect her from his own philandering eyes, his attraction and desire hitting most after a handful of occasions he'd spied on her while bathing and soon attempted to flirt with her to find all of his approaches got him no closer to gaining her affections. Kaito's advances always ended in failure despite his incredible persistence, the rejections to his attempted charms and proposals often ending in shouting or violent acts to push him away as Koneko's eyes were solely on Yuzuki. Even knowing her eyes were on the human with them did not stop his advances, however, craving her attention more and become more persistent in his pursuit. The trio went on like this for quite some time until he had found word the demon that had manipulated Koneko previously was now wandering Japan to reasons he couldn't find out. He and Yuzuki attempted to devise a plan to rid their cohort of the troubling presence forever, yet found their efforts to be in vain, resulting in him being removed from the fight by force and uncertain of the outcome of their attempt. He was left forced to search for the two companions, though it didn't take long for him find some evidence the witch they'd traveled with had met with an unfortunate fate and couldn't find signs of the daiyoukai, presuming she'd moved on to searching for the beloved mortal.

Forced to the fate of wandering on his own to find any traces of Koneko, Kaito vehemently continues searches across Japan in hopes he may find her once again to continue doing as he vowed he would, and perhaps wishfully hoping he could finally win her over as the sole companion she'd have left. He held onto a small notion he may find Yuzuki alive, still searching for any traces in his wandering to even find out what else may have happened during their ill-fated fight, yet was more resolved to hunting traces of information that might help him slay the youkai responsible for her assumed death. While he wanders, he still holds true to his nature in the meantime, and eventually finds the fortune he seeks of coming across the the young hybrid once more, soon resuming his advances as if little had changed and hoping to pick up their companionship where they had left off. Yet upon finding her, he discovered she wasn't alone, adding a competitive nature to his pursuit as the found themselves forming a new group and a new adventure.
